BLUE COLLAR HARDY~HEDDON DAISY 3-3/16" 310 TROUT FLY REEL. The Heddon company imported some very nice reels which competed with those of Hardy. One of their very best was the 300 series, copy's of the Hardy Lightweight reels. This finely made reel was offered in the US as a blue collar version of Hardys famous line of reels. The reels so closely copy Hardy that the spools are interchangeable. Made with fine trim lines on its edges, an Ebonite handle knob, two tone color finish, adjustable drag, can be used left or right hand wind as it a reversible stainless, 2-screw line guide. This reel size accepts a 4, 5 or 6 line. Stamped with the "Heddon Daisy" Trademark on the bottom of the reel foot. Shows signs in the interior that the reel cage was repainted over the original finish. I had a unused copy of the reel and it seemed to be a slightly different color. I thought it was a factory variation, but I now think it was repainted at some point, very nice job I must say, it fooled me. The spool is original finish. One of the nicest, and most usable, Hardy copies you'll ever find & in really nice useable condition. $65.00. $55.00

BLUE COLLAR HARDY~BERKLEY 3-3/16" 510 TROUT FLY REEL. The BEARKLY company of Japan imported some very nice reels which competed with those of Hardy. One of their very best was the 500 series, copy's of the Hardy Lightweight reels. The Berkley badge on the back of the reel, with the "Japan" on the bottom of the reel foot. Shows normal wear from use but retains 95% of its original finish. One of the nicest, and most usable, Hardy copies you'll ever find & in really nice condition. $45.00.

Fuquay fly rod by Dwayne Locklear

Signature series 6'-3" 2/2 4 wt NODE-LESS CONSTRUCTION

Unique and labor intensive NODE-LESS Construction method was used in the building of this rod. This process removes the weak growth node from the bamboo, that can cause splitting and breakage in other rod. With all the blemished sections removed the result is perfect cane, on the finished rod. But the singular largest benefit of node-less construction is the totally weak non-power-fiber material is removed, and replaced with solid bamboo power fiber. Immediate results is a lighter, stronger, cleaner looking rod. With the removal of 27 nodes you will have more powerful rod without a weak points along the length of the blank.

Dwayne has made a rod that is quicker and brisker, with a feeling of subtle elegance and refinement unequaled by standard construction. And this rod has the subtle look that I find beautiful to look at.

In 1998 Mark Metcalf came up with the idea to publish a mag. all about Bamboo. He assembled nice group of Editors at large like A.K. Best, Jack Parker and Michael Sinclair were among them. The Idea was to feature an article about a Masters of the Craft. The mag. was published here in Calif. and so it was a natural to start with the Powell Family and there history. Walt is the key figure but the article covers info. about his dad and brother. It also covers Tony Maslan and a great interview with his son Press who at the time was the President of Powell rod co. Mark was able to produce and distribute 4 magazines a 5th was printed but not sent to the subscribers. There are a few copies around. $ 130 delivered in the US

1931-36 PFLUEGER MEDALIST 1394 ~ SOLD

Bronze spindle, 6 rivets around spool latch cover holding the interior sculpted cross pillars in the spool.
3 sculpted cross pillars on the body riveted to the cage body.

The 1394 Models were Right Hand Wind without a line guard. I sent the reel to Bill Archuleta to tune up the springs, its lubed and ready to go. If you were to fish this reel it would work as a LHW as well the resistance feels almost the same.

Very hard to find reel in real nice condition. This reel, this choice won't last long. This is a well maintained USED reel. It shows the usual signs of use for a well cared for reel from the 1930's.

My Bio

I wsn't sure what to put here, so I used my artist bio from my last show.

Clifford Alan Reos paints what he knows, and the result is a collection of poetic landscape and still life paintings that embody a unique fidelity to enduring themes of land and nature. With the heart of an outdoorsmen he translates his experiences into luminous, expressive watercolors that bridge between fine art and sporting art. His passion for fly fishing, and use of antique bamboo fly rods, and reels has kept him in the woodlands of the west, and has inspired many of his works.

Educated in Architecture and Land Planning in Los Angles, he has had a 40 year award winning career working on projects all around the world. Several of his mentors in the field of Architecture were also well know artist and art collectors, and infused his interest in art. The development of his strong graphics design with a sophisticated sense of color and form, are from years in architecture. In 1986 he begin to show and sell his work and has been displayed in numerous exhibitions, galleries, museums, and art shows.
